Estonia is part of the European Union since May 2004, with the introduction of the euro in Estonia in January 2011 replacing the previous currency, the kroon (EEK), with an exchange rate of 1 EUR = 15.6466 EEK.
Estonia's euro coins were designed by Lembit Lõhmus and use for all values a map of the country, with the twelve stars of the European Union, the mint year and the inscription Estonia (EESTI).
